For most load-bearing wall removals, yes — a structural engineer’s calculation is required before building control will sign off the work. We work with trusted engineers and will co-ordinate this as part of the project.
We’ll assess this during the initial site visit. As a general guide, walls running perpendicular to the floor joists and walls directly below upper-floor walls are often load-bearing — but a proper assessment is always needed before any removal.
We remove the stack from above the roofline, make good the tiles or slates, patch the flashing and make good internally. The work typically takes one to two days.
